Here’s how to extend the life of your smartphone: Check this out!

Should you leave your smartphone plugged in overnight?

Does it cause battery damage? Is it bad for your safety?  Should you let it run to zero percent before re-charging your smartphone to 100 percent?

If you don’t know what’s the right thing to do, keep on reading.

We all are very grateful for having smartphones in our lives, and we think of it as a big investment.  Thus, we want to make sure our smartphones are up and running. If you are planning to use your current smartphone for a couple of years, you need to stop sabotaging the life of your smartphone by accidentally doing the things that shorten its life.

Even though we make sure we clean the screens of our smartphones very often, try to update all the software apps, but there are still plenty of things that we accidentally do that cause damage to our ‘’precious commodity’’.

How to charge your phone properly?

The debate on when and how much we should charge our phones is not just about harm to a device, as some people have fears of perhaps ‘’overloading’’ a smartphone battery.

So, is it dangerous to leave your smartphone plugged in overnight? The answer to this question is very complicated, since there are opinions out there that are completely contradicting each other.

The safety concerns around this topic raised a couple of years ago due to the incident happened with Samsung’s Note 7s. Due to battery issues, Samsung has had problems with phones bursting into flames. However, experts have previously explained that unless the phone has some major manufacturing defects, the fire -in -your pocket is unlikely.

Things you should stop doing with your phone

Let’s go over all the things that you might be doing to your smartphone that result in having a broken phone.

The number one thing that you should avoid at all cost is downloading apps from suspicious websites.

Downloading an app that has malware is seriously damaging your smartphone.

Before you give in to the constant temptation of new apps, make sure you do a little research on it. You don’t want to get malware by installing a new app on your smartphone, so it’s in your best interest to avoid downloading apps from untrusted sources.

Leaving your phone plugged in overnight after it has 100 % charge is not recommended.

However, you shouldn’t panic about it too much. Leaving your phone plugged in for a couple of hours until it gets charged for 100 percent, is fine. Just make sure to check on your phone when you wake up in the middle of the night and unplug it, in case it’s fully charged. Or get a smart phone outlet, get your phone plugged into it and let it schedule so it turns off.

When you leave your phone charging even after it has full charge, your phone generates excessive heat, which causes harm to your device.

Allowing your phone to overheat is not a good idea.

Speaking of overheating, it will affect the longevity of your phone.  Make sure you don’t let your phone overheat in strong sunlight.

Thus, we recommend turning your phone off if you have to leave it in a hot car. Keeping your phone at a comfortable temperature will prevent accidental damage.

Another way you can protect your phone from getting damaged is staying away from using old cables.

If you are not using the cable from the manufacturer, or at least ‘’certified’’ in some way, you can destroy your phone with your counterfeit cable and stop it from charging. You better stop getting cheap cables, otherwise you will pay more to get a new phone.

The takeaway here. If you plan on getting new phone every year or two, keep on doing all the above-mentioned damaging things to your phone, if not, follow the best practices we introduced in our blog.

At the end, we would like to hear your experience with your smartphone. How do you take care of your smart phone?

Feel free to share your recommendations on the topic.
